Each spring, approximately 80 of the Bay Area’s best high school athletes are honored during theCal-Hi Sports Bay Area Banquet at EA Sports World Headquarters in Redwood City.
The banquet is hosted by the Cal-Hi Sports Bay Area staff. As guests arrive, they are invited to take a short tour of the EA Sports campus and samplecutting-edge video games currently under production. The athletes also dine with their parents and coaches before enjoying an awards presentation.
Athletes are awarded in several categories, including Players of the Year and all of our Play of the Weekwinners. The audience watches the GIANT auditorium screen in wonder as Cal-Hi Sports Bay Area shows videos of the athletes and all the best plays from the past high school season. Athletes then receive their awards, on stage, and receive congratulations from show host Robert Braunstein, along with our very special guest speakers.
Recent guest speakers include current NFL stars Tully Banta-Cain, Hiram Eugene, and Donald Strickland, along with local athletes like Joe Cannon from the San Jose Earthquakes and former San Jose State quarterback Adam Tafralis. We also welcome one of the high school athletes up to the stage to speak on behal of all Bay Area athletes. Recent student speakers include De La Salle's John McArthur and Campolindo's Mary Vaccaro.
The Cal-Hi Sports Bay Area Banquet... a yearly tradition and the crowning event of each high school sports year.
